In a shocking development, a hair and makeup artist has filed a civil lawsuit in Los Angeles accusing country singer Garth Brooks of sexual assault and battery, as reported by CNN.
The accuser, known as “Jane Roe” in the complaint, claims that Brooks raped her during a work trip to Los Angeles in 2019. Additionally, she alleges that he repeatedly groped her and made inappropriate comments while she was working on his hair and makeup throughout the year.
Despite these serious allegations, representatives for Brooks have not yet responded to requests for comment.
The case is being handled by Douglas Wigdor, a prominent attorney recognized as a leading #MeToo advocate. Wigdor has previously represented women who accused individuals like Harvey Weinstein, Bill O’Reilly, and Joe Biden of sexual misconduct.
According to Wigdor and other lawyers involved in the case, Brooks allegedly exploited the makeup artist when she was facing financial difficulties. They claim that he initially offered her paid work but then engaged in a disturbing pattern of harassment and assault detailed extensively in the lawsuit.
Wigdor emphasized that this case highlights how sexual predators can exist across various industries including country music. He made this statement alongside Jeanne Christensen and Hayley Baker who are also representing the plaintiff.
