According to a source from 9to5Google, Google is set to release the Pixel Watch 2 this fall alongside the Pixel 8 phone family. This comes after years of waiting for the first Pixel Watch, which was teased at I/O last year. While details are scarce, Google has historically released new flagship Pixels in October.
The current Pixel Watch is based on a 2018-era Exynos 9110 system-on-chip, which leaves it lagging in efficiency compared to the Apple Watch and numerous Wear OS watches. However, a newer SoC could improve battery life and performance. Google could also borrow health sensors from newer Fitbit devices like the Sense 2. Additionally, there is only one 41mm case, so it is possible that a larger model will be released for those who prefer bigger watches.
Software improvements could also be in the works, but no details have been released yet.
