A Single Modification in Cyberpunk 2077 Enhances the Difficulty and Overall Experience

Cyberpunk 2077‘s 2.1 update ‌has‌ brought‍ about several new changes.‍ While⁣ it increases the difficulty of one aspect of the ‌game, it ‍significantly enhances the portrayal of a specific ⁤Cyberpunk character: Adam Smasher. Right‌ from his‌ first appearance during ⁤the Arasaka heist, Adam Smasher, the heavily cybernetically enhanced head of security ⁣for the company, is established as a formidable adversary.

[Warning: This article contains spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077] During the Arasaka heist, Jackie ⁢describes the cyborg enforcer as a‍ “Night City legend.” A braindance sequence from Evelyn‌ Parker’s ‍perspective shows him approaching her, emphasizing his towering size. V explains that⁤ they ‍could ⁣sense⁣ Evelyn’s fear in⁣ that moment. These early encounters, combined with the later revelation that Smasher was responsible for Johnny Silverhand’s death, make it clear that players will eventually face him in combat ⁣as part of Cyberpunk 2077’s story.

Unfortunately, when the time comes to fight Adam Smasher towards the end of the game, the boss battle is somewhat underwhelming. Most ⁣builds can defeat him with minimal effort. For example, players with a Netrunner ⁣build can easily stack ⁤Quickhacks like Short Circuit and Overheat to defeat him within seconds. Those using specific weapons like Comrade’s Hammer can kill him in a single hit.

Many players expressed their disappointment with the Adam Smasher boss fight, considering it ‍to⁣ be the ⁢final battle that had been built up. However, CD Projekt Red has acknowledged this and announced that the ⁢2.1 update will include “improved boss fights”. During a live stream on the CD Projekt Red Twitch channel, Cyberpunk 2077’s ⁢quest director, Paweł Sasko,⁤ specifically mentioned Adam Smasher.

Typically, when developers⁣ claim to ⁤have made ⁢boss battles harder,⁣ it usually⁣ involves reducing the damage inflicted on them or increasing their health‌ bars to prolong the fight and make ⁣it more challenging. However, CD Projekt Red appears to have completely revamped the Adam Smasher boss battle, incorporating elements from the character seen in the anime Cyberpunk Edgerunners to ⁣make him a more formidable opponent.
