The Spellsparkler quarterstaff can be obtained early in Baldur’s Gate 3‘s Act 1, but it will require some exploration. The quarterstaff is a two-handed melee weapon intended as a gift for a cleric of Mystra. The Spellsparkler also deals d6 Bludgeoning damage with one hand and 1d8 Bludgeoning damage with two hands, making it a crucial weapon for magic builds.
The Spellsparkler comes with the Electric Blood ability. When equipped, the Spellsparkler grants you two Lightning Charges after using a spell or cantrip. The Spellsparkler also has the Topple action, which can knock targets Prone for easier attacks and resets after a short rest. The Spellsparkler is a reward for rescuing Counsellor Florrick from a massive fire.
To obtain the Spellsparkler, you need to go to Waukeen’s Rest in The Risen Road. This area is encountered early on during Act 1 and has several quests, such as “Hunt the Devil,” where you will meet and befriend Karlach in Baldur’s Gate 3. By listening to Karlach, you can invite her to join your party. Counsellor Florrick is involved in a quest called “Rescue the Grand Duke,” which begins when players arrive at Waukeen’s Rest in the northeastern part of The Risen Road.
Upon arriving at Waukeen’s Rest, a group of Flaming Fists will be attempting to break down the door to rescue people from the burning building. Your first option for entering is to help them break down the door with a Strength Check. Alternatively, you can have Wyll break down the door. If you fail, you can attack the door with a basic attack. Another entry point is the roof, which can be accessed by climbing the rocks to the left and jumping down.
Once inside the burning building, you can find Counsellor Florrick on the second floor. You must break down the door that the Flaming Fists are facing. Counsellor Florrick will promise to speak with you further outside, where you can obtain the Spellsparkler.
