Square Enix has just revealed Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo, a horror visual novel set to be released on PC and Nintendo Switch next month. This announcement comes at the start of an exciting year for horror game fans.
Though Square Enix is most renowned for their JRPG series such as Final Fantasy, they also delve into smaller genres, such as visual novels. Their last release in this genre was the 2018 mobile game Toji No Miko: The lamp of Kizamishi Issen, though it only launched in Japan. The upcoming Ketsugou Danshi: Elements with Emotions, however, is planned for a worldwide launch in 2023. Recently, Square Enix’s trademark activity has led to speculation that they are remaking The Portopia Serial Murder Case, an 8-bit visual novel from 1983.
