Microsoft has ended its long-running introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass, which allowed users to try the service for $1 for the first month before moving onto more expensive payments. As reported by The Verge, the deal applied to both Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and the PC Game Pass, but has now been pulled. A Microsoft spokesperson stated, “We have stopped our previous introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass and are evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future.”
It is unclear what these “different marketing promotions” will be, but a possible successor to the $1 deal could be the Xbox Game Pass Friends and Family scheme. This scheme has been tested in a number of international markets since late 2022, although it is still unavailable in the US.
