Wow, Google’s Android 14 update is still hot off the press, and we’re already getting a sneak peek at the 2024 Android 15 release. The first developer preview is out, and it’s giving us a tantalizing taste of what’s to come.
It’s important to note that this is just the beginning, and what we’re seeing now isn’t the final product. But Google has released the first public Android 15 preview, and it’s our best look yet at what’s in store.
This is only the first of six prelaunch previews Google has planned. If all goes according to schedule, we’ll see another developer preview in March, followed by four beta releases between April and July. The final Android 15 rollout should be ready to go in late summer or early fall.
While this initial preview isn’t quite ready for prime time, it gives us a good idea of what’s coming. Here are the five most interesting Android 15 features we’ve seen so far — along with instructions on how you can implement similar setups on your own phone right now, no matter what Android version it’s running.

Android 15 will let you ”gradually lower the notification volume when you get many successive notifications from the same app” — a handy feature to have.
But why wait? You can give yourself that same sanity-saving superpower right now, with even more versatility. I’ve got all the steps you need…
