Persona 3 Reload is a thrilling new revamp of the original title, released eighteen years ago, that captures the essence of Atlus’ Persona 5. This major overhaul of the game offers a rich narrative, stunning soundtrack, and captivating combat that exceeds expectations.
Players are immersed in the role of a transfer student, Makoto Yuki, who joins the pre-established group S.E.E.S. Unlike Persona 5’s Joker, Makoto is a newbie in this world, adding a fresh perspective to the gameplay.
While the game reverts to the canonical male lead, Makoto, it compensates with improved dialogue sequences and exceptional voice-acting. The new voices for the English dub are a highlight, with the original cast making cameo appearances, adding to the overall experience.
However, the Social Links in the game still lack the depth and value seen in Persona 5’s Confidants, as they do not offer additional skills with each rank. This is a minor drawback in an otherwise exceptional game.
