Since the launch of the Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition, industry experts at Digital Foundry have finally shared their insights on the project. They meticulously compared it to the 2011 remaster and the original 2003 version, providing a comprehensive analysis.
The recent remaster showcases a plethora of enhancements that reflect the dedication and effort poured into the game. Every aspect has been refined, bringing the original elements to life in a way never seen before. Running on PS5 and Xbox Series, the game boasts a stunning 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, with occasional drops to 30 frames per second. In performance mode, the pixel count decreases to 1440p, resulting in minor drops that are less noticeable compared to the resolution mode.
Regrettably, the Switch version lags behind in performance, with resolutions fluctuating between 900p to 1080p in docked mode and 720p in handheld mode. Despite maintaining a steady 30 frames per second, there are occasional drops to as low as 12 frames per second. Additionally, graphical compromises are evident, with some textures appearing lackluster, almost as if they were set at the bare minimum quality settings.
