Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers a unique multiplayer experience that sets it apart from traditional co-op games. While it is primarily a single-player RPG, it allows for a party of up to four characters to explore its world, including the player character, friends’ characters, and those created in the game’s character creator.
Unlike other open-world RPGs, Dragon’s Dogma 2’s multiplayer mechanics are not as straightforward. It does not support direct joining of friends’ games or sharing of save files. Instead, it introduces a system where players can hire additional Pawns, either from other players or the game’s developers, to accompany them on their journey.
Although players cannot directly play together, they can still engage in an asynchronous multiplayer experience by making covenants with each other’s Main Pawns. This allows for shared experiences and knowledge to be exchanged, creating a unique way for friends to interact within the game.
