The gender gap in technology fields is widening, leading to a significant pay disparity between men and women, as highlighted in a recent report by Skillsoft, an online education tech company.
This trend has resulted in more women leaving tech careers and a growing pay gap, despite efforts by organizations to increase female representation in technical roles such as engineering and product management.
A substantial 31% of women in tech are contemplating leaving their current organization within the next year due to issues like poor management and lack of training. Additionally, 37% are considering changing roles in the near future, with only 27% expressing extreme job satisfaction, according to Skillsoft’s Women In Tech survey.

The report emphasizes that job satisfaction for women in tech is influenced by tangible benefits like pay rates, paid time off, and hybrid work options. Job security emerged as the primary driver of satisfaction.
According to the report, factors such as department or company management and lack of training and growth opportunities play a more significant role in women’s decisions to leave a job or employer, with increased compensation being a less influential factor.
Conducted online between September 2023 and January 2024, Skillsoft’s survey collected 507 responses from women in 33 countries working in the tech industry or tech-related roles.
