The fatal incident occurred early on Tuesday when Kirillov fell victim to a bomb concealed within an electric scooter outside an apartment complex on Ryazansky Prospekt, as confirmed by Russia’s investigative committee. The blast site was approximately 7km (4 miles) southeast of the Kremlin.
The explosive device had an estimated power equivalent to 300 grams of TNT, as reported by Russia’s TASS news agency citing a law enforcement official.

Evidence from the scene displays significant damage with handlebars blown off from the scooter and structural harm around the building entrance caused by the explosion.
In addition to Kirillov, his assistant also lost their life during this tragic event.
