UK Sandwich Maker Issues Precautionary Recall on Product

In response to an E coli outbreak that has resulted in⁤ 67 hospitalizations and ⁣over 200 serious illnesses, a third⁤ sandwich⁢ and wrap manufacturer has‍ issued a product recall.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced on Sunday that This company has voluntarily recalled its This Isn’t Chicken and Bacon wrap due to potential E⁤ coli contamination.

Although no E coli was found in the product, the FSA stated that the company only supplies these ⁢vegan wraps to WH Smith.

Greencore, a supplier to major UK supermarkets, previously recalled 45 wraps, sandwiches, and ‍salads, while Samworth Brothers, supplier ⁢to Tesco and One Stop, recalled 15 sandwich and wrap⁢ varieties.

Customers who purchased the affected This wraps with a best before date of 18 June are advised to return them to WH Smith for a full refund.

Investigations into the E coli outbreak source are⁤ ongoing, according to an FSA spokesperson, with the outbreak linked to a specific salad leaf identified by the UK ⁣Health Security Agency.

The UKHSA anticipates a rise in illness cases related to the outbreak as genome sequencing is used to determine the connection between E coli instances.

Retailers are cooperating with the‍ FSA to swiftly remove affected ⁢products from shelves ‌and minimize customer risk,⁣ as stated by Andrew Opie, director of food and sustainability at the British Retail Consortium.
