Twitter introduces new API pricing with a restricted free tier for bots.

Twitter has officially announced the pricing and details for its new API version. The company had previously postponed the changes after announcing that it would be prohibiting third-party clients as part of a larger overhaul of its developer features.

As expected, the company is offering a free tier with limited functionality, which is significantly less than its predecessor. The new free tier is intended for bots and other testing purposes, allowing accounts to post up to 1,500 tweets per month but without access to any other features. This may provide a lifeline for some of Twitter’s well-known bot accounts, but it may be too limited for those who post more frequently, with only about 50 tweets per day.

The new “basic” tier costs $100 per month and offers a little more. Developers can post up to 3,000 tweets per month at the user level and up to 50,000 per month at the app level. It also has a read limit of 10,000 tweets per month, which is still less than what was previously available…
