Reports from medical sources indicate that Israeli airstrikes in the northern and central parts of Gaza have resulted in numerous casualties.
During the early hours of Wednesday, the Israeli army targeted a residential building near Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, causing significant destruction. The area has been under a strict siege for over two months.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of at least 20 individuals, including women and children. Concerns are high that this number may increase as more victims are discovered. It was reported that around 30 displaced persons were residing in the multistory home belonging to the Abu Tarabish family before it was hit.
A heart-wrenching scene captured on camera by Al Jazeera showed civilians desperately trying to rescue survivors trapped under debris. Among them, a child’s lifeless body was recovered from the rubble.
“The once-standing residential building now lies in ruins with smoke still billowing from it,” described journalist Moath Kahlout at the scene. “Due to limited rescue teams, neighbors are bravely assisting in retrieving bodies buried beneath the wreckage.”
Later on, another devastating attack targeted a residential property within Nuseirat refugee camp resulting in seven fatalities – all belonging to one family.
Additionally, Palestinian Civil Emergency Service reported two more casualties following an Israeli airstrike on a house located in Gaza City.
‘No letup’ in Israeli attacks amid truce efforts
Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reported from Deir el-Balah stating that these recent deadly assaults occur amidst an escalating humanitarian crisis within Gaza.
“The situation is dire with scarce essential supplies and dwindling markets as this crisis unfolds tragically,” he emphasized while highlighting the relentless nature of Israeli bombings without any signs of easing up.
No immediate response has been provided by Israel’s military regarding these attacks which have resulted in staggering casualties over recent months – claiming thousands of lives and leaving many more injured.
