Exploring the lands of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been a popular pastime for fans since its launch on Friday, May 12. The game’s new abilities, Fuse and Ultrahand, have already inspired funny creations that are taking over the internet. As the successor to Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom offers the same creative freedom, allowing players to use the in-game toolset to devise fun and unique ways of travel and combat. Users can now build fully-powered vehicles, weird and wonderful weapons, and even create rude robots.
Link’s Fusing ability allows him to attach items to each other, meaning players can flex their creative muscles when it comes to devising new weapons. Redditor Comprehensive-Toe633 made the most of the new power by creating a Lizalfos whip-like weapon, which sounds cool enough, but the animation shows the Lizalfos part actually unfurling as Link swings. The result is a hilarious party-favor-like weapon that might not take down a Lynel, but that’ll look funny during battle. Players looking to create their own impressive Fuse weapon will need parts of a Lizalfos, which are common enough enemies that can be found in grassy, hot, and cold areas.
Shield-surfing was a popular mode of travel in Breath of the Wild, but Tears of the Kingdom takes the concept a step further by introducing the Hylian equivalent of skateboarding, done by attaching a cart to a shield. As demonstrated by Reddit user EnviroJack, the skateboarding ability isn’t just a fun way to get around – it’s actually very useful.
