Since its acquisition in 2007, the Fallout franchise has been a cornerstone of Bethesda Game Studios. Despite this, there have been only a few games released in the series, mostly spin-offs like Fallout 76 and Fallout Shelter. With its rich lore and expansive world now gaining more attention through a successful television series, there is immense potential for additional spin-offs.
While details about the next Fallout game are scarce and support for Fallout 76 continues, it seems that the fifth installment is still far off. With the recent release of Starfield and the upcoming Elder Scrolls game not expected until 2026 at the earliest, Fallout 5 may not hit the shelves until 2030. In the meantime, spin-offs could keep fans engaged.
With Microsoft now owning Bethesda and the Halo franchise, a crossover title could be intriguing. Given that Fallout 3 introduced shooting elements to the series and PvP was featured in Fallout 76, a competitive shooter could be a natural progression, possibly with input from the Halo developers.
The Knights and Paladins of the Brotherhood of Steel are akin to the Spartans of the Fallout world, known for their power armor and combat prowess. A shooter centered around them, with a focus on weapon customization and variety, could be compelling. Introducing Super Mutants as adversaries could add an exciting twist to the gameplay.
At the core of Fallout is a post-apocalyptic world struggling to rebuild after a nuclear war. Settlements like Good Neighbor and Diamond City are emerging from the ruins, showcasing society’s resilience. A game that allows players to govern and oversee the rebuilding process could offer a fresh perspective on the series’ unique setting.
