Threads users will soon have access to one of their most requested features: a web version. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, announced on the app that in the coming weeks, Threads will be launching a web version for desktop users, along with a proper search function.
Currently, users can view Threads posts on desktop, but clicking on the reply, repost, like, and send buttons only brings up a QR code that links to the app. Additionally, the search function on Threads is limited, as it can only surface other accounts and cannot be used to search for specific posts.
Meta released Threads at a strategic time, when users were facing significant changes on the platform formerly known as Twitter. It was made available shortly after the platform restricted the number of posts users could see on the website/app due to concerns of data scraping and system manipulation.
