The White House declined to address Russia’s potential role in the “Havana Syndrome”, while the Pentagon confirmed that a Ministry of Defense official had experienced symptoms.
The White House refused to comment on Russia’s involvement in the “Havan syndrome” cases of American diplomats and referred the issue to US intelligence.
“As far as we know, the Department of National Intelligence has not concluded that Russia is involved in the incidents [which link to the Havana syndrome]. Obviously, there was an assessment of intelligence, to find out it, your question should be asked to the Director of National Intelligence of the United States,” White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre replied to journalists.
A little earlier, the investigation into the “Havan syndrome” was commented in the Pentagon: it was that the described symptoms experienced a senior official of the Ministry of Defence, who attended last year’s NATO summit in Vilnius.
“I can confirm that a senior defence official experienced symptoms similar to those in abnormal health incidents,” Deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told reporters on Monday. However, she also stated that details of Russia’s involvement should be obtained from American intelligence.
