Skyrim has been in the limelight for so long now that it’s possible to forget what’s actually in the game, and that’s precisely what’s happened with a bunch of fans who have been discussing some places they forgot even existed. Along with being an RPG with some great world building, The Elder Scrolls 5 takes place in a substantially large environment filled with settlements, caves, ruins, snow-covered mountains, and a slew of NPCs, so it’s understandable that players aren’t going to remember every single detail.
Okay, so it’s not the biggest Elder Scrolls game around, that honor goes to Daggerfall or possibly Arena, but Skyrim is still pretty massive at around 37 km squared. Taking into account the verticality of the game, there is so much for the Dragonborn to see while out and about on their adventures. While places like Whiterun, Blackreach, High Hrothgar, and the College of Winterhold are probably the most notable locations, there are some that even the most ardent fan can accidentally omit from their memory.
Take these Reddit users who have been talking about some of the places in Skyrim that they forgot even existed. One person said they can’t remember where Angi, the woman who trains in archery, is on the map. Another comment just straight up says they forget about Morthal, one of the game’s major cities, with a user admitting that they still haven’t been there even after 120 hours of playing. User galsgamesguitars comically replies by saying, “I’d answer but I forgot which place it was.” As for the OP of the thread, they uploaded a picture of the map, showing the location of Shor’s Stone, the mining village just north of Riften, suggesting they neglect to remember where this is.
As mentioned above, even longtime players are not going to be able to remember every settlement and location. More than 11 years later, fans are still discovering new things in Skyrim, which kind of gives an idea of just how in-depth TES5 actually is. It may have its flaws, but it must be doing something right to keep players engaged after well over a decade.
