GOG lists Starfield‘s release date as June 29, 2023, but this date is oddly specific and a little out there for a couple of reasons. All rumors such as this should be taken with a grain of salt, and while it is possible this is genuinely Starfield’s release date, it remains incredibly unlikely.
As many fans know, Microsoft and Bethesda are planning a dedicated deep dive into Starfield sometime in the future, and it stands to reason that its release date would be revealed there. The recent Developer Direct also confirmed a May release date for Redfall, and it has always been tied to Starfield’s. Bethesda once stated that Redfall would release first, meaning that June is not an odd guess in the slightest.
Beyond June making sense and known reporters like Jez Corden speculating about a June release date, the thing about Resetera’s discovered June 29 date is that it’s an odd placeholder, if that’s what it’s supposed to be for Starfield. Placeholders typically fall onto the last date of a given month or period, meaning that June 30 would be the most likely date used if it was a placeholder. Furthermore, most video games release on Tuesday or Friday, meaning Thursday would be an odd pick at that, but stranger things have certainly happened.
There are some reports that this GOG release date has been up longer than some may have realized, but a few recent tweets about it have this date making the rounds online. Either way, in response, it seems GOG has taken down the June 29 Starfield release date, which could mean anything. While this does fit Starfield’s promised first half of 2023 release date, it does so narrowly, and this is despite other rumors suggesting Starfield is being delayed into the second half of 2023. Ultimately, fans should take all of this with a grain of salt, as nothing is certain until Bethesda or Microsoft announce it themselves.
Starfield is in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S.

With the upcoming release of Bethesda Softworks’ highly anticipated upcoming video game Starfield, the excitement surrounding the title has been steadily building. Many fans have been eagerly awaiting an official announcement from Bethesda regarding the release date of the game, but it now appears that the date may have been inadvertently revealed online.
According to reports, a Dutch retailer recently posted an advertisement for the game which listed a release date of November 5th. Although this couldn’t be confirmed and the advertisement was quickly taken down, it has caused some speculation regarding the potential launch of the game. Furthermore, numerous European stores have listed dates in November, suggesting that the game may, in fact, be launching in late 2021.
The release of Starfield is especially significant, given that it’s Bethesda Softworks’ first new IP in over 25 years. The game is described as a “space-adventure” and is set deep in outer space, with the player exploring distant alien planets to discover the secrets of the universe. As such, the game is expected to be far larger and more expansive than even Bethesda’s recent projects, such as Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Although an official announcement from Bethesda Softworks is still yet to come, the Dutch retailer’s advertisement may have inadvertently revealed the release date of the highly anticipated game. If true, it appears that fans won’t have much longer to wait for the full game.
