A coalition of 20 leading tech companies has come together to sign a groundbreaking agreement aimed at preventing the spread of AI deepfakes during the pivotal 2024 elections across more than 40 nations. Notable names such as OpenAI, Google, Meta, Amazon, Adobe, and X have all pledged to work together to combat the potential influence of AI-generated content on voters. However, concerns have been raised about the agreement’s lack of specific language and enforceable measures.
The signatories of the “Tech Accord to Combat Deceptive Use of AI in 2024 Elections” include companies involved in the creation and distribution of AI models, as well as the social platforms where deepfakes are most likely to appear. The list of participants comprises Adobe, Amazon, Anthropic, Arm, ElevenLabs, Google, IBM, Inflection AI, LinkedIn, McAfee, Meta, Microsoft, Nota, OpenAI, Snap Inc., Stability AI, TikTok, Trend Micro, Truepic, and X (formerly Twitter).
