Tech CEOs Nadella and Narayen join forces to support cricket’s growth in America



Team USA upsets Pakistan in historic cricket World Cup victory

While cricket may ⁢not be ​a mainstream sport in the U.S., a group of influential CEOs⁣ and investors are determined to change that narrative.

The Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup, being co-hosted by the U.S. ⁣for the first time, has attracted nearly a billion dollars in investments from these visionaries.

Notable figures such⁣ as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen are backing the new U.S. professional league, ⁢Major League Cricket. Other big names in the⁢ cricket investment scene include Iconic ⁤Ventures, ⁢Madrona Venture Group, and Google executives.

“The potential for cricket to become ‌a mainstream sport in the⁣ U.S. is what excites me,” said Soma Somasegar, a venture capitalist and managing director at Madrona.

Somasegar and Nadella‍ are key stakeholders in Seattle’s cricket team, the Orcas, and ‍are also involved in the league as a​ whole.

“Satya [Nadella] and I have been discussing the idea of‌ introducing cricket to America ⁤for quite some⁤ time,” Somasegar shared ⁤with CNBC.
