TCL, despite already having free, ad-supported TV channels, is now joining the trend with its first exclusive release on TCLtv+ this summer. The company is using generative AI to produce original content, with its debut being a short romantic film. However, early feedback on this approach is not very promising.
TCL has unveiled the trailer for ”Next Stop Paris,” touted as ”the first AI-generated love story.” The project involved human writers, actors for motion capture and voiceovers, as well as artists from various countries. While human input was significant, generative AI played a crucial role in the creation process.
“I am thrilled about this opportunity to set ourselves apart with unique content. AIGC [artificial intelligence generated content] marks just the beginning for us,” stated Chris Regina, a representative from TCL.
