TCL’s Debut Film: A Whimsical AI-Crafted Romance

Several leading tech companies, ⁣especially ⁣those in the TV hardware industry, have started creating their own original content. TCL, despite already⁤ having‍ free, ad-supported TV channels, is now ‌joining the trend with its ⁤first⁢ exclusive⁣ release on‍ TCLtv+ this‍ summer. The company is using generative AI to ‌produce original content, with its debut being a short ⁣romantic film. However, early ⁤feedback on this approach is‍ not very promising.

TCL has unveiled the trailer for ⁢”Next⁣ Stop Paris,” touted⁢ as ‌”the first AI-generated love story.” The project involved human writers,⁤ actors for motion capture and ‍voiceovers, as well as ‌artists from various countries. While human input was ⁣significant, ⁣generative AI⁢ played a crucial role in the creation process.

“I am ⁢thrilled about this opportunity to set ⁣ourselves apart with unique content. AIGC [artificial intelligence generated content] marks just the beginning for ‍us,” stated Chris Regina, a ‍representative from TCL.
