Survey Reveals Gen Z Employees Prefer Chatbots for Career Advice over Managers

Employee discontent is ⁣on the‍ rise due to toxic work environments and limited opportunities for advancement within organizations. A recent study by Intoo, a career development and outplacement ⁣firm, reveals that many workers attribute this issue to the behavior of their managers.

According⁢ to the survey conducted ‌in collaboration with Workplace Intelligence, Gen Z employees are increasingly turning⁤ to “AI Career Coaching” for guidance, ⁣with ChatGPT being a preferred source for career advice. Surprisingly, 47% ⁤of Gen Zers find chatbots more ⁢helpful than their managers in this‌ regard. The study ⁣also shows that a significant percentage of employees‌ and HR leaders have encountered toxic workplace characteristics during their careers.

Lydia Frank, the vice president of‌ marketing at Chronus, notes that Gen Zers, ⁣having grown up with⁣ the Internet, are inclined towards ‌utilizing ‌generative AI for various purposes, including ⁢career advice. She emphasizes that⁢ the⁤ lack of mentorship and professional networks, especially in remote work settings, is prompting Gen Zers to seek guidance from ⁣platforms like ChatGPT.

The ‌survey further highlights that mistreatment at work and limited career growth opportunities are prompting⁣ more employees to actively explore new job⁤ prospects. The data, collected ⁣in late 2023 and updated recently, underscores the importance of identifying toxic workplace dynamics and fostering a positive work⁢ environment to enhance⁤ job satisfaction, performance, and retention.
