Hayao Miyazaki’s final film, titled How Do You Live?, will be released in IMAX theaters. This is a significant milestone for Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, the animation studio he co-founded almost forty years ago. Anime News Network reports that the film will also be shown in Dolby Atmos, Dolby Cinema, and DTS:X when it premieres in Japan on July 14th.
Gizmodo points out that previous Studio Ghibli films did not have IMAX screenings during their original theatrical releases. Combined with the fact that How Do You Live? is said to be Miyazaki’s last film (according to the director himself), this makes it a highly anticipated movie event.
