Stay Secure: Office Apps and Servers to Stop Receiving Updates in 2025 Alongside Windows 10 End of Support

Microsoft has announced that support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 suites, along with‍ related productivity servers, will cease on October 14, 2025.

This means that applications like Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and others in ‍these Office suites will no longer receive security fixes, bug fixes, or technical updates after the specified date.

Exchange Server 2016 and 2019, as well as Skype for Business Server 2015 and 2019, will also be affected by this‌ end‍ of support, according to Microsoft’s recent blog ⁢post.

Mariana⁣ Prudencio, senior product ⁢marketing⁣ manager at Microsoft, warns that continuing to use these products after the⁣ support ends could expose business users to security threats, productivity losses, and compliance issues.

Microsoft is encouraging customers to transition ‍to cloud-based solutions like Microsoft 365 E3 or ⁤the ⁢Office Long-Term Servicing Channel, which extends support until 2026‌ for Office 2016 and 2019 users.

For those still running Exchange Server on-premises, Microsoft advises preparing to migrate to the new Exchange Server expected in 2025 before the support deadline, recommending a move to‍ Exchange ⁢Server 2019 for a smoother ⁢transition.
