Labour has voiced deep concern over Rishi Sunak’s reluctance to rule out potential cuts to the NHS or pensions, or tax hikes, to fund his £46‍ billion long-term plan to eliminate national ⁢insurance. Following PMQs, Pat McFadden, the party’s national campaign ‌coordinator, stated:

The prime minister had three opportunities today ‌to rule out cuts to the NHS, cuts ⁤to the state pension, or income tax increases ⁣to cover⁣ his completely unfunded £46 billion plan to abolish national insurance. It⁢ is deeply concerning that he deliberately chose not to do so.

At a⁣ time when ‍Liz Truss has been ⁤highlighting the ‌repercussions of unfunded Tory promises,‌ the British public deserves answers. It is time for Rishi Sunak to be transparent and address the burning⁤ question on everyone’s mind: how does he intend to finance it?

I have enhanced the‌ previous post regarding Keir⁣ Starmer’s response to Rishi Sunak’s remarks about Angela Rayner (see⁣ 12:06 pm) with the best‍ version of⁣ Starmer’s quote available. He stated:

You have‍ a billionaire prime minister… whose family has utilized schemes to ⁢evade millions of pounds in taxes, smearing a working-class woman.

You may need‌ to refresh the page to⁢ view ⁣the update.

As mentioned⁢ earlier (see ⁣1:22 pm), the full quote was ⁣inaudible due to loud heckling by Tory MPs.

Political enthusiasts typically enjoy general elections, but there ‍is also a valid reason⁢ to dread ⁤them. When the policy discussion should be most enlightening, it often deteriorates. Steve Bannon, former political strategist for Donald Trump, ⁣once stated that his winning‌ strategy was to “flood the zone with chaos.” While this may be⁢ an extreme description of today’s PMQs, it is not far off.

Keir Starmer⁣ began with Liz Truss ‍and then focused on resuming the ‍attack on Sunak’s long-term £46⁢ billion…
