On Monday, a top Democratic lawmaker, Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, launched an investigation into the proposed merger of the PGA Tour and Saudi-backed LIV Golf.
Blumenthal sent letters to PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan and LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman requesting information about the agreement between the two organizations, including how the new combined entity will operate given Saudi Arabia’s human rights abuses.
The PGA Tour-LIV deal is facing intense scrutiny and doubts about whether the merger can be completed, given the severity of prior claims in the golf leagues’ prior litigation against each other.
