Saving up Primogems for Genshin Impact 4.0 is a good idea if players are willing to obtain the new 5-star and 4-star heroes introduced to the game. These heroes will all be from Fontaine, the fifth nation of Teyvat to be added to the game. Despite it being the Nation of Hydro, not all characters from there will use Hydro as their main combat element. In fact, none of the three new heroes in Version 4.0 will use Hydro. There will only be one 5-star hero added in the upcoming version, and two 4-star characters.
The 5-star hero is Lyney, a Pyro archer who will take on the DPS role in team comps. The other 4-star heroes are Lynette and Freminet, both of which are Lyney’s siblings. Lynette will be an Anemo sub-DPS swordswoman, while Freminet uses a Cryo Vision, but should operate as a Physical DPS with a claymore, much like Mondstadt’s Eula. To obtain most of these characters at launch, it will be necessary to farm and save up Primogems ahead of Genshin Impact 4.0’s release later in August.
Of course, it is not guaranteed that a player will have to go through 90 Wishes, as luck may be on their side, and they will pull a 5-star hero before reaching hard pity. Optimistically, however, it is necessary to save Primogems for Genshin Impact 4.0’s 5-star characters based on hard pity. With each Wish costing 160 Primogems, it is necessary to have 14,400 Primogems to hit hard pity. If players lost a 50/50 dispute prior to pulling in the next banner, then 14,400 Primogems is the maximum amount needed to ensure they will get what they want from the character banners in Genshin Impact 4.0, for instance.
If players have already been going through Genshin Impact and had luck with the banner prior to the new one they are going to pull from, they may be unlucky. Because they won the guaranteed character in the previous banner, the next one has a chance of being a completely different 5-star drop. As such, these players will have to save up even more Primogems for Genshin Impact 4.0. Pessimistically, considering they lose the first 50/50 dispute after 90 Wishes and need to hit a second hard pity to get the desired 5-star character, a total of 180 Wishes will be consumed – which amounts to a whopping 28,800 Primogems.
If the desired pull is actually a new 4-star character, then a lot less Primogems may be needed. In the gacha system, a 4-star drop is guaranteed with every 10 pulls, and the new heroes have increased drop rates during the banner’s duration. There is no guarantee that players will obtain them like the 5-stars hard pity, but 4-star drops with higher drops rates will be coming in more often, increasing the chances of obtaining them. Because of the odds, it is likely that players need to save up fewer Primogems for Genshin Impact 4.0’s 4-star characters.
