Chinese companies are actively finding solutions to the shortage of desktop graphics cards caused by US export restrictions. They have introduced new models of desktop graphics cards utilizing graphic chips from laptop RTX 4080M and RTX 4090M.
On Chinese e-commerce platforms, locally produced alternative graphics cards are becoming more prevalent. For instance, the desktop RTX 4080M features a graphics processor AD104 with 7424 CUDA cores, 12 GB of GDDR6 memory, and a 175W TDP. In comparison, the authentic RTX 4080 is equipped with the AD103 chip with 9728 graphic cores, 16 GB of GDDR6X memory, and a 320W TDP.
Sellers assert that the new card delivers performance between the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Ti. Prices for similar graphics cards range from 3000 to 4000 yuan, approximately 420-560 dollars.
The RTX 4090M features a graphics chip AD103 with 9728 CUDA cores and 16 GB of GDDR6 video memory, with a TDP also at the 175W level. However, the genuine RTX 4090 boasts more streaming processors, 24 GB of GDDR6X video memory, and a 450W TDP.
Currently, only one model of this card is available on Chinese platforms, with the seller offering it for 13,800 yuan (1939 dollars), surpassing the recommended retail price of the authentic GeForce RTX 4090.
