A group of innovative and creative game preservationists have successfully reverse-engineered a previously lost F-Zero game from the mid-90s. According to Eurogamer, faithful recreations of two BS F-Zero Grand Prix games, originally broadcast exclusively for Nintendo’s now-defunct Satellaview satellite gaming extension for the Super Famicom, are now accessible as free add-ons for the original ROMs.
The two BS F-Zero Grand Prix games, which introduced 10 new courses, four additional vehicles, and a ghosting feature not available in the original SNES/Super Famicom version, were exclusively broadcast for Nintendo’s Satellaview in 1996 and 1997. The Satellaview was an experimental satellite module for the Super Famicom in Japan, never released in the US or anywhere else globally.
