According to Deadline, Jack Black is set to portray Minecraft Steve in the game’s film adaptation reportedly within the works”>film adaptation. The actor, known for his role in School of Rock, will join Jason Momoa in the long-awaited movie.
The Minecraft adaptation has been in development since 2014 and has undergone changes in directors and missed release dates. The current target date for the film is April 4, 2025.
The writers for the project have not been announced yet. However, transforming the sandbox building game into a plot-driven Hollywood blockbuster will require creativity from the writers. A plot synopsis from 2019 describes the film as following a teenage girl and her group of adventurers as they try to save their blocky Overworld from the destructive Ender Dragon.
