Central London was filled with tens of thousands of individuals who gathered to demand a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
The National March for Palestine on Saturday occurred during the second day of a truce between Israel and Hamas. This truce resulted in the release of hostages held by the Palestinian group since October 7, as well as Palestinians imprisoned in Israel.
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign estimated that approximately 300,000 people attended, all calling for “an end to the siege of Gaza”.
Protests and solidarity marches have taken place in London and various cities worldwide since the beginning of the Israel-Palestine conflict seven weeks ago.
The Metropolitan Police reported that at least five individuals were arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred, including for distributing “literature featuring a swastika inside a Star of David”.
The police force deployed 1,500 officers to oversee the march.
