Proposed E.P.A. Rules Aim to Increase Electric Car Sales by Ten Times.

The Biden administration is reportedly planning to implement some of the strictest auto pollution limits in the world, with the goal of having all-electric cars make up 67% of new passenger vehicles sold in the US by 2032. This would be a significant increase from the 5.8% of all-electric vehicles sold in the country last year and would surpass President Biden’s previous target of having all-electric cars account for 50% of sales by 2030. The proposed regulations would be the most aggressive climate regulation implemented by the federal government and would position the US as a leader in global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cars, a major contributor to climate change. The European Union has already enacted vehicle emissions standards that are expected to phase out the sale of new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035, while Canada and Britain have proposed similar standards.
