The National Basketball Association and National Hockey League are closely monitoring the uncertain future of Diamond Sports, the parent company of the renowned Bally Sports network. There are growing concerns about the company’s ability to devise a sustainable business strategy before the upcoming fall seasons.
Operating under the Bally Sports brand, Diamond Sports has been navigating bankruptcy proceedings since March of the previous year. The leagues fear that the owner of the largest collection of regional sports networks may not have a viable plan in place for the 2024-25 season.
Legal representatives from both leagues expressed their apprehensions during a recent bankruptcy court session, following Diamond’s decision to postpone the confirmation hearing for its reorganization plan from mid-June to late July.
