President Biden Takes Action: New Decree Targets Asylum Seekers Entering US from Mexico

President ⁣Joe Biden of the United States ⁣has recently signed an executive order aimed at tightening ‍regulations for asylum seekers⁣ within the country. Under these new guidelines, individuals who unlawfully cross the US border will no⁢ longer have the option to seek asylum⁤ and will face immediate deportation. Moreover, they will be prohibited from re-entering the US for a period⁣ of five years.

These updated regulations will come into effect promptly, with exceptions ‍made for unaccompanied minors, undocumented immigrants ⁤in imminent danger to their well-being, and victims of human trafficking. The restrictions are intended to be temporary, triggered by a⁢ threshold of‍ 2,500 daily arrests of illegal migrants at the border for a week, and‍ will be lifted once that number‍ decreases⁤ to 1,500 per day.‌ The logistics of enforcing the rapid deportation mandate remain unclear.

These measures bear a resemblance to the policies of former President Donald Trump, who is also vying⁢ for the presidency once again this‍ year, like Biden. However, upon assuming office ⁤in 2021, Biden⁢ promptly rescinded the national⁤ emergency declaration at the Mexico border, put in place by Trump in 2019, deeming it unnecessary, and ‌halted the construction of the border wall.
