Nicolas Cage, known for movies like “Face/Off”, “Con Air”, and “National Treasure”, may have a chance to redeem himself for his previous roles as the Ghost Rider. Rumor has it that once the screenwriters’ strike is over, Marvel will consider having the star participate in a series or movie about the Ghost Rider, where he will once again portray Johnny Blaze - a biker who sold his soul to the devil and became a fiery hunter of sinners.
Cage played the role of the Ghost Rider in two films in 2007 and 2012, which were criticized for their poor plot, special effects, and acting. But if the rumors are true, the actor will have a chance to rehabilitate himself, as the new film/series will be part of the MCU – the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which unites many characters and stories from the comics.
Cage admitted that he would gladly return to the role of the Ghost Rider and that he would like to show a new side of his character. “I love the Ghost Rider. It is such a cult character from the Marvel comics. I don’t think I was able to fully explore its potential in the previous films. Now I have a chance to do it better and join the MCU, which is an amazing opportunity,” he said.
If the rumors turn out to be true, we can expect the release of the movie with Cage no earlier than 2025.
