The last installment of the popular post-apocalyptic series Metro by 4A Games was released more than four years ago on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The creators of the franchise have been quiet and absent from major gaming events for a significant period of time. However, this is all about to change in August. 4A Games has officially announced their participation in Gamescom 2023, raising hopes for a direct sequel to Metro Exodus.
According to reports, 4A Games will be attending this year’s Gamescom exhibition in Cologne from August 23 to 27. The event organizers have assigned a separate booth for the studio alongside other prominent development teams. It is highly unlikely that the creators of the Metro series would attend the exhibition without any announcements. It is expected that the continuation of Metro Exodus will be unveiled on the opening night of the exhibition. Earlier, well-known insider Tom Henderson hinted at the announcement of a new Metro installment later this year. Gamescom 2023 provides an ideal platform for such a significant announcement, making the chances of official news about the new game extremely high.
It is worth mentioning that the shooter Metro Exodus was released in 2019 and sold 8.5 million copies. Over its lifespan, the game has garnered the attention of more than 10 million gamers worldwide, making the release of a sequel only a matter of time.
