The latest reveals for Infinity Strash: DRAGON QUEST The Adventure of Dai sees the titular hero and his companions illustrating their various battle styles, including vocation changes for Maam and Hyunckel. The upcoming action RPG from Square Enix is based on the popular Adventure of Dai manga and anime series, and it will take players through many iconic moments and plots. Infinity Strash, which is set to release on September 28, is also supervised by Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii and will of course feature a lot of the famous monsters from DQ.
Previous footage of Infinity Strash: DRAGON QUEST The Adventure of Dai showed Dai performing numerous attacks alongside the other Disciples of Avan, using skills like Wave Slash to combat slimes and similar enemies. For anyone who has seen the anime, read the manga, or played the mobile Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai: A Hero’s Bond, many of the characters and elements will be familiar here. Dai is joined by Popp, Maam, and Hyunckel in Infinity Strash, and each playable character will have their own Normal Attack, Skill, Unique Skill, and Coup de Grâce to form their various battle styles, while vocation changes are also possible.
In the latest reveal, both Maam and Hyunckel get some vocation changes illustrated, which allow them to have access to a wider array of abilities, although vocations for other characters in Infinity Strash have been teased. For example, Maam’s Warrior Priest role seems to be primarily focused on healing and magic while her Martial Artist option is all about physical attacks like Warrior Master’s Fury and Refractor Fist. The playable characters and their Battle Styles are as follows:
The combat and mechanics shown for Infinity Strash look a lot like another DQ spin-off series, Dragon Quest Heroes. The vocation system, which is already common in Dragon Quest games, was used in Dragon Quest Heroes 2 while the Coup de Grâce mechanic and skill-based action-RPG combat also appear similar. Although fans have wanted a Dragon Quest Heroes 3 for quite some time, a Heroes-type game with a Dai flourish is still exciting. The battle styles, vocations, and other elements of combat appear to be quite fast-paced with enough variety to keep things feeling fresh.
