Northern Nigeria Mosque Collapse Claims Lives of Seven Worshippers

According ‍to officials, ​a tragic incident occurred in Nigeria’s northern city⁢ of Zaria, in Kaduna state, where a part of a mosque collapsed during ⁣afternoon prayers,​ resulting in the ⁢death of ‌seven worshippers and several others being injured.

The Zaria ‍Emirate​ Council spokesman, Abdullahi Kwarbai, stated that the collapse happened while hundreds of faithful were observing their prayers at the central mosque in the city.

“Initially, four bodies were⁣ discovered, ⁢and later, ​three more were found after the ⁢rescue ‌team conducted a search ⁣of the collapsed mosque,” he explained.

State ⁢authorities have revealed that‍ the mosque ⁣was built in the 1830s.

The state Emergency‍ Management Agency reported that ⁣twenty-three individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Videos captured at the scene depict a ‌wide‌ opening where a section of the ⁣roof ‍caved ⁤in.
