North Korea Allegedly Fires Missile Towards the Sea, South Korea Claims

North Korea has conducted a suspected unsuccessful⁤ missile test, as reported by South Korea’s military, following Pyongyang’s claim of a successful launch of a⁤ spy satellite.

The launch took place in‍ North Korea’s capital region⁤ late on Wednesday, with the missile being ‌fired into the sea east of ⁢North Korea. The attempt seemingly failed, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who provided no further details about the type of missile used.

South‍ Korea⁤ responded ‍to North Korea’s satellite‍ launch on Tuesday by suspending parts of the 2018 inter-Korean military tension reduction agreement. This agreement ⁢had established a buffer⁣ zone and prohibited aerial surveillance along the heavily militarized border with the North.
