Michigan Governor, Rick Snyder, has issued a statement denouncing the campus shooting that happened on March 2nd at Central Michigan University (CMU).
At approximately 9:30 am on Friday, police dispatch reported an active shooter on CMU’s campus in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. This prompted a massive response from several law enforcement agencies including, Mount Pleasant Police Department, Michigan State Police, Isabella County Sheriff’s Department, and the FBI.
Governor Snyder has expressed his deepest sympathies to the victims, families, and the CMU community.
The Governor has strongly condemned the incident and seeks justice for those affected. He stated in his address that “our state grieves and prays for the victims of this tragic incident and stands ready to support the community.”
Governor Snyder ended his address with words of appreciation for all the first responders who worked hard to take down the shooter and ensure the safety of all of CMU’s students and faculty.
The Governor’s statement is in compliance with the pledge of the Michigan State House to work towards preventing such incidents and sending a single, strong message against such senseless acts of violence.
