Mac Admins Navigate Challenges with macOS Sonoma 14.4 Rollout

Apple ‌admins are⁤ facing some issues with ⁣the latest macOS ⁢Sonoma update. Some USB hubs are not being recognized by Mac, and a popular command tool ⁤used to restart services on‍ remote Apple⁢ devices⁢ is no longer supported.

The USB hub problem⁤ is being reported across the Apple web, including on Apple’s support forums and⁢ Reddit. The issue seems to be affecting Macs running the latest version of Sonoma ⁤and⁤ third-party monitors with USB hubs.

This issue can be problematic for conference room setups, educational establishments, and office workers with ‍devices connected to⁤ their monitors via USB. If you’ve ‍been ‍receiving support requests since macOS Sonoma 14.4 shipped, you are‍ not alone. Fixes include switching everything off ‌and‍ on⁣ again, changing settings in System Preferences, ⁢and swapping USB cables.

It is expected that this problem will be⁤ resolved in ⁤a future software update, but it is currently causing frustration for Macadmins.

Another issue is that Addigy’s MDM Watchdog Utility is no longer ‌supported. This free tool ⁤monitored MDM frameworks on remote Macs and forced them to install software patches.‌ However, certain commands used by the utility have⁢ been ‌deprecated in the latest ‍macOS version, impacting the remote device management experience for ⁢admins.

Admins are now required ⁣to manually restart Macs to trigger the software update process, which is not the ideal remote device management experience they prefer.

When Addigy launched its utility, it was widely adopted and became a beacon of reliability⁢ for those managing Apple devices.
