Since the release of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, impressions of it on consoles have not been the best. PlayStation and Xbox users complain about various issues, ranging from crashes to refusal to load save files, even after the latest patch.
This is not too surprising considering how much new content has been added, but it has led to a return of performance problems, more reminiscent of version 1.0, such as textures taking so long to load that you find yourself entering invisible objects and even save files refusing to load. Overall, the FPS has also suffered, especially in Dogtown.
This issue is not exclusive to the less powerful Xbox S. Many on the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit are complaining about issues on the Xbox X and even on the PS5. We already knew that PS5 users had issues with save file corruption, and unfortunately, the patch that fixes this problem was unable to recover the saves. However, both platforms have encountered a problem where the game does not detect the installed Phantom Liberty expansion and, consequently, does not load saves made after launching the expansion.
As for Xbox, some are sharing on the subreddit about texture glitches. You can also find NPC bodies levitating, although this may be related to incorrect loading of the object they are sitting on. Additionally, V somehow ends up wearing the wrong clothing, which is usually fixed after opening the inventory screen.
Considering all of the above, CD Projekt Red still has a long way to go to give Phantom Liberty the same level of polish that the base game had before the 2.0 update. The game will still be supported even if it doesn’t receive another expansion, so hopefully, the wait won’t be much longer.
