It seems that many players are battling The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s skeleton enemies in the wrong way, facing a tougher fight than need be. As in Breath of the Wild, most Stal enemies typically require two strong blows to defeat in TOTK. However, with the right strategy in place, these skeletons can be taken down with great ease.
Although Tears of the Kingdom has the Blood Moon to resurrect monsters, some do not wait that long to return from the dead. Stals, skeletal enemies that range from the common Stalkoblin to the dreaded Stalnox, blight Hyrule’s nighttime hours and underground areas. To defeat groups of the lesser monsters, Link must break their bodies apart and then destroy their skulls before their bones reassemble, a task complicated by the fact even one Stal skull can keep its allies’ bodies animate. The Stalnox, as an undead Hinox, is naturally a much tougher opponent. However, players can actually fight Stals with ease thanks to a certain new trick introduced in TOTK.
However, it should also be noted that Stalnox are not so simple to defeat. Essentially being minibosses in their own right, Stalnox have large pools of health and require a concerted effort to take down. They are also resistant to the effects of Dazzlefruit, and do not take damage from its use. On the other hand, Stalnox are momentarily stunned in fights by the flash caused by a Dazzlefruit (as are most other monsters in TOTK). As such, the item is not without its use even in a fight against these enormous monsters, giving Link time to gain some distance or ready a weapon.
Fighting Stals can be a frustrating experience, especially if Link happens to miss a member of the group or a skull bounces away. Dazzlefruits resolve this issue; even if a Stal is far away enough to survive the flash of light, that won’t be enough to preserve its allies. The light produced is instantly fatal, outperforming even the Master Sword itself in Tears of the Kingdom in this way. But as this use for the item is not well advertised within the game, it is mostly up to the player to discover it through experimentation. But once this Dazzlefruit trick is learned, then fighting these skeletal monsters becomes far easier.
