Israeli Attacks Leave Five Dead, Gaza Hospitals Desperate for Aid

Reports ‍from the ⁣Palestinian news⁣ agency Wafa indicate that ⁤Israeli ​airstrikes⁣ in ​southern Gaza have resulted in the⁣ deaths of ⁤at least ‍five Palestinians​ and ‌left dozens​ injured.

According to ⁢Wafa,⁢ the attacks ​targeted Rafah and Khan‍ Younis on⁣ Monday, causing injuries to around 30 individuals.

The wounded have been ⁢taken to the Nasser Medical Complex, but the lack of electricity ​in the area may hinder the ‍treatment process for the⁣ injured, as mentioned in‌ the report.

Over⁤ the past 24 ‌hours, Palestinian officials ⁣have reported 40 fatalities, ⁢bringing the total death​ toll in ⁣Gaza since October 7 to⁣ 37,124, with over 84,700 people sustaining injuries. It is feared ​that many more may ‍have perished under the rubble in the devastated enclave.

In Rafah, where Israel initiated a ground offensive recently, residents observed tanks advancing towards ‍the ⁣north early on Monday, particularly in the densely populated⁢ Shaboura neighborhood.

The Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s armed wing, claimed responsibility for an attack on Israeli forces in the area, stating that their fighters had inflicted casualties on the ‌soldiers.

Through‍ a statement on Telegram, the Qassam Brigades detailed how their fighters detonated explosives​ in‍ a booby-trapped house ⁣while ⁣Israeli forces were present, ⁤subsequently launching​ mortar‍ shells to further disrupt the vicinity.

Approximately ⁣half of Gaza’s 2.3 million inhabitants sought refuge in Rafah before⁣ the recent assault, with a million individuals fleeing the region since then, according to the United Nations.

Israel recently intensified its offensive in central Gaza near Deir el-Balah, the remaining populated area yet to be ‌targeted.‌ While some Israeli forces have withdrawn from certain locations, ⁢airstrikes‌ and shelling persist in the region.
