Let’s! Revolution! is a new Minesweeper-inspired roguelite puzzle game where players will attempt to dethrone an evil king through strategic tile flipping. The upcoming release marks the first original title for the animation studio BUCK, which has previously collaborated with developers like EA and Riot Games on artistic projects as well as animating segments for films like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. As a result, Let’s! Revolution! is an intersection of gaming and art, pulling equal influence from BUCK’s development team and its animators.
Let’s! Revolution! takes players to the world of Beebom, a whimsical land with environments and characters that draw inspiration from sources like Studio Ghibli films, Adventure Time, and Katamari Damacy. Each run consists of a series of puzzles, the goal of each one being to track down the King and avoid enemies by revealing tiles. As players progress they’ll unlock different classes that necessitate different play styles – for example, the Trooper is rewarded for uncovering as many tiles as possible, while the opposite is true for the Shadow class. Each run is procedurally generated, offering different challenges each time players embark.
Screen Rant sat down with Let’s! Revolution!’s Senior Producer Marla Anyomi and Creative Director Michael Highland to discuss the unique collaboration with BUCK, building upon established mechanics in creative ways, and standout moments from the development process.
Screen Rant: So first, I would just love to talk a little bit about the visual influences for this game. I feel like some from animated shows like Adventure Time and similar shows really clearly shine through. Can you talk a little bit about the sort of media that impacted the animation and aesthetic style of this title?
Do you have anything to add to that Marla?
