Yukai Engineering, the staff behind the unusually cute cat tail pillow, is again with a brand new quirky invention. Unveiled at CES 2023, the Fufuly is yet one more anxiety-reducing cushion from the Japanese firm, however this time that includes a delicate rhythmical pulsation as the primary therapeutic device. The thought is that while you're hugging a Fufuly, its life-like conduct stimulates your stomach to induce slower and deeper respiratory. Despite its thought-bubble form (supposedly to evoke the picture of a puff of air), the cushion felt extra like a mellow creature dozing off in my arms. I even mistook the quiet mechanical noise as a cat's purr, to which CEO Shunsuke Aoki assured me this was purely a coincidence.
For this venture, Yukai Engineering partnered with the University of Tokyo, which researched on the "phenomenon of rhythmical synchronization between individuals or between individuals and objects" as they work together with each other.
