A groundbreaking ⁣moment unfolded as Volkswagen ​employees in Chattanooga, Tennessee, decisively​ opted​ to unite with the United Auto Workers — marking a significant achievement for the union, marking⁢ its first successful campaign to⁢ organize workers‌ at ⁣an automaker beyond Detroit’s Big Three.

The unionization effort garnered⁤ an impressive 73%‍ of​ the⁢ vote, ⁣with 2,628 workers showing support‌ for the UAW, as confirmed​ by the National Labor Relations Board, ‌the⁣ overseeing body of the ⁣election. Out of the 4,326 eligible VW employees, approximately 84%, or around 3,620, participated ‍in ​the election, as reported by ⁣the NLRB. A few ballots⁢ were contested, while three ⁣others‍ were⁢ invalidated.
